Jean-ius

Hello friends!

Isn't amazing how sometimes, just when you throw a question out to the universe, an answer bounces right back at you?!  Remember how in the last post I wondered how best to make garments that are more wearable for every day.  Well I found a solution that not only helps out my scrubs problem, but also with making jeans, which if I'm honest with myself, I wear almost everyday when I'm not in scrubs.  The answer is jean-ius!

The course is taught by Kenneth D. King, and he teaches you how to copy your favorite jeans without harming them at all.  And he uses a method similar to the rub-off method that Shawnta (one of my readers!) mentioned on my Sewn Wardrobe post.

I'm so excited!  I was able to pick up some supplies while I was on a trip to Portland for the holiday weekend.  I can't wait to get started on them, but I am going to try and pace myself.

Speaking of Craftsy courses, they are trying to suck me in!  Gah!  Not only is there the amazing Starlet Suit Jacket by Gretchen Hirsch, but also the Couture Dress by Susan Khalje.  If I had no self control what-so-ever, I would just buy them all!!

Have you checked out Craftsy courses?  Are you just dying to take any of them?  I really love the format of how they teach their courses.

  1. Ahh, Craftsy. I've got the Diana Rupp class all paid for and ready to go, but have yet to 'take' it, even though I really learned a lot from her book. Lazyness!

I've really been lusting after Gertie's classes, though, and that jean-ius one really looks interesting! If only I had more time/money. :)

    1. I bought Gertie's bombshell class ages ago, and I'm slightly terrified that I am buying Craftsy classes without actually doing them, which is not a great idea, but I'm excited to start trying them now that I have a little more experience under my belt.

You're so right, more time and more money would be fantastic!

  2. I have purchased both of Gertie's classes, the Jean-ius, and the couture one. They were on sale and I just couldn't pass them up.

    1. Oh man! Color me jealous! I have not bought the Couture class, or Gertie's Starlet Jacket, but I had to exert an inhuman amount of self-control to not just jump up and buy them! Let me know how they are!

  3. You do know you can get discounts fir those courses now that you have bought the jean-ius class right. If you check your confirmation email for your purchase, i'm sure they have a link where you can buy any other class for $25. That includes both gertie's classes and the couture dress as well.

    1. Talk about inspiring! You spin my head 'round! We really must do some canning sometime soon. I'm really thinking that having my own canned goods would be fantastic!

  5. Thanks for mentioning the $25 for the next Craftsy class - I hadn't even looked at my confirmation email, and I was a little sad I couldn't afford both Jean-ious and the Gertie jacket class. Now I can! Yay!
